Since he’s a Navy veteran, my husband Matthew loves to see our American flag hanging in front of the house. I thought as a treat for him, I would decorate a patriotic back porch for July 4th. That would mean having lots of flags and red, white and blue decor. After thinking about it, this idea was really for me because to pull it off I had to go shopping!
Recently a new Tanger Outlet Mall opened about 8 miles from my house, so went check it out. There were some super deals, but because the mall was so crowded I left after snapping up new candle holders at Yankee Candle. I’m not sure what style you would call them, but you can see them in the photo below so maybe you can tell me.
Now that I was on a shopping roll, first I hit World Market for a flag pillow and mini flags. Then it was off to Home Depot for ferns and thinking I didn’t buy enough, I got some more mini flags. They were only .99 cents! And finally, still on a caffeine high from 2 Diet Dr Peppers, I ran into HomeGoods and found 2 stars and stripes plates on clearance that had to come home with me. This is this patriotic back porch I put together. What do you think?
Happy 4th of July Everyone! I hope yours is really wonderful! Are you doing anything special, going to your hometown parade or having a cookout?
