The other day I blogged about the fall front porch that was a re-do because all of my mums died on the first go-round. Well, here we go again! These gorgeous mums started withering in the returning heat, so I brought the purple ones out back to make a pretty table on the screened porch. We love to eat dinner out here and just enjoy the evening.
It’s funny because like most people, we looked at lots of houses before buying this one. A screened porch was on my wish list during our house-hunt, but was not a deal breaker. I was wrong. When we came to this house, I came thru the kitchen and stepped out onto this screened porch. The view of the evergreens just blew me away and I told Matthew that this was the house! It might sound silly but 7 years later and I still get that same thrill when I come out on the porch.
The mums are still in those hideous plastic planters from the nursery. To cover them up, the mums are sitting in ceramic crocks that I have had forever, on a burlap runner. With the mix of painted candlesticks, mercury glass votives and white candles, it has a rustic lux look that fits my style. And because the nights are cooler, I got to dig out my sheepskin throw for the chair. The compass pillows were a recent purchase.
