We have been so busy with work, updating the kitchen, the birth of our first grandchild, dog-sitting (very large dog) that decorating for Fall kept being pushed back. The other day I had spare time so I spent it on creating a pretty back porch. Since we bought this house, the back porch is my favorite place to sit and relax. It is such a luxury to have that I wanted to use it more this Fall. To set it up as a place for Fall Back Porch Dining I brought things in from the patio. A table that is almost 20 years old and faux wicker chairs we bought about 6 years ago. Part of the fun was figuring out how to use what I already owned.
My decorating style has changed over the years and is now more modern farmhouse than traditional. But I used orange and yellow for the faux stems and the table runner because I already had them. At the local market, I bought mums in yellow and purple, apples and sugar pumpkins too. Even though purple is not a color I usually think of for Fall, I could not leave these gorgeous purple Mums! Each of the place setting bowls are filled with a little Casper Pumpkin. I mean, who in October can resist a pumpkin named after a ghost?
It was so much fun to put together this table, I really wonder why I didn’t do this before. We had family over the other night and used the table for dinner. It was so nice to sit outside and enjoy a cool breeze while we ate.
The night time pictures did not turn out well, I am no pro with the camera …but I still wanted to show you what it looks like with the candles lit. The metallic accents on the bowls and plates caught the light from the candles and glowed.
You might be interested in seeing how this same porch was decorated for Spring and for the Fourth of July.
At the time, the Spring porch re-do was posted on my other blog, Must Love Home, that is now devoted exclusively to cooking.
