We have been doing some serious renovations in our house for about a year now. We have painted cabinets and furniture and added some wood floors but it is not finished. If you read my blog, you know that I finally painted all my kitchen cabinets white a few months back. That started an avalanche of projects to paint all of the cabinets in the house. Even so, I caught the decorating bug for the holidays and I want to share it with you.
It’s funny what happens to our style and taste over time. I went to bring our old holiday decorations up from the basement and found they did not fit my “style” of neutral colors and rustic glam anymore. Rather than buying new, I fed my passion for painting and re-cycled them.
I love the rustic glam look, so I am going with it for Christmas too! I started in the kitchen with a buffet. (It is the last piece of oak furniture in the house that has not been painted. The wood is pretty so I am still on the fence about it.)
There is a sign in the top of the tiered stand that reads “Love Will Keep You Warm”. It is my favorite decoration ever! Matthew and I bought this in a little shop in his hometown before we got married more than 25 years ago! It has a man and a woman sitting together on top of a snow covered wall. We thought it looked like us. Usually, it sits in the kitchen window but this Christmas, Matthew and I are grandparents for the first time so I gave it a special place. Good Lord, where has the time gone?
I did not use anything new for this DIY rustic glam buffet except for pine branches that I got at a nursery last week. The Paris Flea Market sign is a re-cycle that I blogged about on my other blog Must Love Home.
